Powershare in one minute
Since October 2026, every Tesla Model 3 and Model Y ordered in the U.S. or Puerto Rico can power a home during an outage with Powershare. It needs Powerwall 3 and a Wall Connector 3 or Universal Wall Connector, and the car delivers up to 11.52 kW. Tesla estimates it adds up to two days of backup or more, depending on trim, for a home using 30 kWh a day.
Your result depends on what you run. The runtime calculator lets you pick appliances and a driving reserve, and the compatibility checker tells you whether your car and equipment qualify.
How we handle data
- Official manufacturer figures are labeled as official and linked to the source.
- Numbers the manufacturer doesn't publish, such as usable battery capacity, are labeled as estimates and shown as a range.
- When the answer is uncertain, the tools say so instead of guessing.
